Building Hope – The Maggie’s Centres
Our chosen charity for 2017 is the wonderful Maggie’s Centres. We’re embarking on some exciting initiatives with our local Maggie’s Centre, Lanarkshire – watch this space.
In the meantime, to find out why we at Gebbie & Wilson have been so inspired and uplifted by the Maggie’s concept and its translation into a unique life enhancing reality, please watch “Building Hope”. This documentary, telling the Maggie’s story, is on BBC 2 on Sunday 6th November at 8 p.m. – and for the many other ways to watch, here is a message from Marion Pirrie, Maggie’s Lanarkshire’s Fundraising Manager:

Dear David and Russell,
I am delighted to be able to tell you that the BBC documentary, Building Hope: The Maggie’s Centres, will be broadcast on Sunday 6 November 2016 at 8pm on BBC Two Scotland.
This beautifully shot film, directed by award-winning director Sarah Howitt, tells the story of Maggie’s, our approach to cancer care and the role great design plays in the support we offer.
It includes interviews with Charles Jencks, Marcia Blakenham, centre visitors, our Chief Executive Laura Lee and some of the world-renowned architects who have designed our Centres including Frank Gehry, Norman Foster and Richard Rogers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Maggie’s to raise awareness of the work we do in our Centres so please do tell as many people as possible to watch!
You can watch the programme live in a number of different ways – details can be found in the ‘How to Watch’ section below. Of course, it will also be possible to view on BBC iPlayer afterwards and the millions of viewers of BBC Global will have several chances to watch a slightly abridged version of the film on Saturday 19 November.
We also anticipate that the broadcast will lead to calls to our phone lines in the immediate aftermath of transmission as well as an increase in activity on our social media pages and our Online Centre, and we have been preparing to ensure we maximise all such opportunities.
This is a very exciting time for Maggie’s and we are very lucky to be the subject of a documentary such as this. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to your feedback.
Best Wishes
Marion
