Gebbie & Wilson’s Colouring Competition
Gebbie & Wilson’s colouring competition, launched on Strathaven Gala Day, has been won by Olivia McGrory, aged 8, from Stonehouse. As the firm’s Senior Partner, David Murray, commented “Remarkably, this year we, at Gebbie & Wilson, have reached our 200th Anniversary as Strathaven’s Solicitors and we were keen to celebrate this landmark achievement on Gala Day. Fortunately for us, our Agricultural Law Specialist, Laura Boswell, is also a talented local artist. Laura sketched a drawing depicting Gebbie & Wilson’s Common Green home and some of our Town’s annual highlights – the Balloon Festival, Reindeer Day and Gala Day itself. We then handed out 200 copies of the drawing to children on Gala Day and invited them to colour it in.”
Laura, as the drawing’s artist, was given the difficult task of choosing the competition winner. “I was delighted with the standard of the entries” remarked Laura “I chose Olivia as our winner because of her thoughtful use of colour and the neatness of her work. Olivia clearly put in a lot of time and effort on her colouring and is a worthy winner.”
During her recent visit to Gebbie & Wilson, Olivia was presented with her prize of £50 and a framed print of her winning entry, the original of which now has pride of place in Gebbie & Wilson’s front office.
